About Montesano

The City of Montesano is the county seat of Grays Harbor County, Washington, with a population of 3,700.  Montesano is located approximately 10 miles east of Aberdeen and 40 miles west of Olympia, providing close proximity to hospitals, colleges, shopping, and recreation.  Montesano is conveniently situated as the gateway to Washington's pristine coastal beaches and the scenic Olympic Peninsula.

Attractive homes in established neighborhoods lend charm to this rural community, as does the Grays Harbor County Courthouse, a turn-of-the-century three-story structure with sandstone, marble, granite, wood, murals, and stained glass features.

Lake Sylvia State Park is located in the north end of the city, providing fishing, camping, hiking, bicycling, swimming, and picnicking opportunities.  The adjacent nearly 5,000-acre city-owned forest offers additional opportunities for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding, besides providing a perpetual forest income to the city.

Nearby Olympic National Park, numerous rivers, and ocean charters offer exceptional fishing and recreation.  Sportsmen enjoy excellent hunting in surrounding open forest areas.
