Jurisdiction

Montesano Municipal Court has jurisdiction over traffic infractions, criminal misdemeanor, and gross misdemeanor violations occurring within the city. The Court has original criminal jurisdiction of all violations of city ordinances. The Court operates under the city ordinances, state statutes, and of course, applicable federal constitutional law. The purpose of the Montesano Municipal Court is to fairly and expeditiously resolve these criminal and civil cases.

Goal

The primary goal of the Montesano Municipal Court is to maintain the highest standard of professional and judicial excellence and to continue to improve the process by which disputes that come before the court are resolved. As part of this, the Court must maintain an effective system for the receipt, processing, and closure of the cases. In addition, the Court needs to continually seek to ascertain and respond to the needs and expectations of all court users.
