Biography
Rick Thomas is a 35 year law enforcement veteran. He started his career in Albany, NY before moving to Hoquiam, where he served 30 years, with the last 10 as the Chief of Police before retiring. <
He started with MPD in October 2006, and serves as our Evidence Officer, Marijuana ID Technician, and Explorer Post Advisor.
In addition to law enforcement, Rick served 40 years with the military: 10 years active and 30 years reserve status. As such he has been a helicopter pilot, intelligence officer, company commander in both the US Army and Coast Guard, from which he retired as a Coast Guard Captain in 2007.
Rick has a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice from Saint Martin’s University Lacey, Washington, and is a graduate of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia as well as multiple law enforcement and military schools and academies.
He is married, lives in Central Park, and has two children and five grandchildren. He enjoys hunting, fishing, golf and photography.
