The City of Montesano has operated with a City Administrator since 2010. This system combines the strength of an elected Mayor and City Council
with a professional administrator.
The City Administrator's Office includes the:

- City Administrator
- Assistant Clerk-Controller
- Two Deputy Clerks
Kristy Powell was appointed City Administrator/Finance Director in January of 2010. Prior to her appointment she served as the City of Montesano Clerk Controller. As City Administrator/Finance Director under the direction and authority of the mayor, she is responsible for:
- The management and implementation of policies, rules and regulations, financial operations.
- Supervision of all departments and divisions within the City of Montesano.
- Human Resources.
Kristy has demonstrated an ability to provide strong and innovative management. She firmly believes in providing leadership that will maintain a cohesive administrative team that works together to pursue innovative and new approaches to handling the challenges of municipal government.
